Iconic Bulgari Three Color Tubogas Necklace
A fine, and rare, example of one of Bulgari's most iconic designs in yellow, white and rose gold. Sleek, stylish and highly collectable.
- Handmade by the historic Carlo Weingrill company for Bulgari, the necklace is fully signed and hallmarked, dating the piece prior to 1968
- 223 grams
- The term "tubogas" refers to the original flexible tubes that were used to transport gas in the 19th century
- The original handmade method involves the overlapped wrapping of two extremely long gold strips around a metal core, which is later removed
- This necklace has three different colors of gold so this technique is repeated three times and then joined together
- There may be over thirty feet of gold in this necklace
- A little known tidbit is that the metal core is covered in paper before the gold is tightly wrapped around it. When finished, the paper is burned, allowing for the removal of the core
- The measurement tapers from 17 to 14 inches from top to bottom
